About Kent Hutchison
Kent Hutchison, a member of the Rotary Club of Nederland, is
a fifth-generation Texan. He has worked with companies and
organizations for more than 16 years as a trainer, facilitator
and keynote speaker.
He is the former director of adult continuing education and
professional development at Stephen F. Austin State University
(SFA) in Nacogdoches, Texas. Prior to working with SFA for
more than nine years, he served as a legislative director in the
Texas House of Representatives in Austin, Texas. Currently
Hutchison is the quality assurance manager for Mason
Construction, an industrial civil contractor located in Beaumont.
Since 1992, he has been creating training programs in
experiential learning with various organizations; he is a
certified ropes challenge course instructor; and has been a
cluster facilitator at the nationally recognized LeaderShape
Institute, and has led workshops for programs throughout the
United States.
He has served as club president of the Fredonia-
Nacogdoches Rotary Club (2002-2003); and served District
5910 as an assistant governor for two years (2003 – 2005). He
also has served as chairman of the Fredonia Rotary Club
Foundation’s board of directors (2003-2005); assistant district
trainer for District 5910 (2006-2007); and district trainer next
year (2007-2008). He is a member of the Rotary Lone Star
Presidents’ Elect Training Seminar (P.E.T.S.) operating
committee; and coordinates the training of assistant governors.
Kent is also very active with the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto
Council. He is a Do-Dad (the Girl Scouts’ name for a dad who
volunteers) with Troop 9129. Kent is a past press corps
representative for the Pine Burr Service Unit – Area 1
(Nacogdoches); and is currently a member of the Girl Scouts
of San Jacinto Council Southeast Texas Advisory Committee.
Twice recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow for his work with
high school students through the Rotary Youth Leadership
Awards (RYLA) program for his service in the field of
community leadership development, he is a benefactor of the
The Rotary Foundation.
